america back on track! >> mitt romney won the iowa caucus on tuesday. former pennsylvania senator rick santorum came in second. it was a photo finish. romney beat santorum by 8 votes, or 1/100 of 1% of votes cast. but a win is a win. santorum thanked the caucus- goers and saluted them after the votes were counted tuesday night. >> game on! mitt romney's extremely hard to beat here in new hampshire, but now a new poll shows mitt with a strong lead in south carolina as well. rick santorum hopes to be the guy to stop him, but santorum is learning that old ef hutton motto holds for presidential candidates too. when front-runners talk, people listen. and santorum is having a sticky time scoring points after his first-place tie in iowa. newt takes on mitt. in just a few weeks, newt gingrich has gone from undisputed front-runner to also ran. and he has mitt romney and his stealth ad campaign to thank for that. i sat down with newt last night after the program and he did not hold back. >> he ought to take those ads home and show them to his grandsons and said, grandpa did this, what do you think about this kind of trash on television? >> newt vows to be the last man in the fight with mitt. >>> plus, politico called it mitt's weekend from hell. the big debate weekend coming up with everyone looking down -- looking to take down romney. who was on the mitt romney team, not on the newt gingrich team. he was going after the media, which we talked about again and again, and conservatives like that, as well. but it was interesting to listen to newt gingrich's victory speech here tonight, because it wasn't so much about his rival. we heard him go on and on about mitt romney on the campaign trail. this one was about president obama and what he considers to be a food stamp president, something that he's said time and again. here's just a little bit of what he had to say with respect to that line of attack. >> president obama has been historically the most effective food stamp president in american history. carolina. this is "special report." ♪ ♪ >> bret: good evening. i'm bret baier. romney will take his two election winning streak to the first southern primary of the campaign season in south carolina. a week from saturday. romney easily won the new hampshire primary last night. after a narrow victory in the iowa caucuses a week before. chief political correspondent carl cameron shows us what romney is up against down south. it out in new hampshire last night and now on to south carolina, mitt romney celebrating his big win here by kicking off his south carolina campaign today. in new hampshire romney coasted to victory winning 39% of the vote. ron paul came in second at 23% and jon huntsman who staked his whole campaign on new hampshire was in the bottom three percent. can they slow romney's march to the nomination. we have chris here with us, and david, washington bureau chief. >> what we know from the exit polls, what is on the voters mines of the republican party, and as they move to south carolina, we have seen interesting developments, newt gingrich going nuclear on mitt romney, and perry, rick are perry again today going up against mitt romney's whole background. what is the impact on the republican electorate? >> i can guarantee you that calls have already been made to people affiliated with gingrich and perry saying wait a minute, what are you doing is not helping your cause, you are hurting romney and giving the obama campaign more material. i do think there's very much a sense, andrea, even more so
